Gigabyte Intros S1081 Windows 7-Powered Slate

File under: News

CES is not only about Android-powered tablets, even though there seems to be a cornucopia of new devices being announced and the show hasn't even started. Gigabyte brought its new S1081 slate to Las Vegas and this one is running Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system.

It packs a 10.1-inch screen and the processing power comes from the new Intel Atom Cedar Trail platform, "which delivers fantastic energy efficient performance that is great for mobile multitasking". Say goodbye to 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage as the S1081 features a 500GB HDD. For those who want even more performance there's a flavor packing an SSD.

HDMI and VGA ports make sure you can easily connect the slate to an external display while USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 4.0 offer connectivity choices. The slate also includes a 1.3-megapixel webcam and there's an optional docking station with a DVD drive and a powerful audio system (including two stereo and two woofer speakers) in addition to some extra ports.
